INTRODUCTION TO EPIC START 2
WHAT IS EPIC?
EPIC is a program that aims to enhance the learners’
English fluency and proficiency
through a series of activities and lessons.
For this semester, you are either
enrolled in EPIC START2 or 4 (or both).
This presentation will focus on EPIC START 2.
WHAT IS EPIC
START 2?
START classes are computer-mediated programs.
This means that activities and lessons are delivered
through an application, that contains different course
studies. These course studies contain video
presentations, listening activities and other
learner-centered lessons.
For EPIC START 2, we will be exploring four course
studies: Advanced Listening, Clear Speech
Works, Dialogue, Hospitality English and Test Mountain.
COURSE FLOW
To help you understand and
appreciate the course, here is a short
course flow description for you.
1. Account Set-Up
We will begin by setting up an official DynEd account for you. This is done
by our LDRC IT staff. You will have to secure your account details from your
teacher;this will serve as your official log in.
2.Taking the PLACEMENT TEST
Once we have secured your accounts, the next step is to take the placement test.
This test is necessary to place your English proficiency, so that the course
modules that will open for you are also suitable for your proficiency level.
(details for this are in the PLACEMENT TEST presentation)
3. Downloading the
Course Studies
Your placement level will open your course studies for you. There are four course
studies that you need to finish:
Advanced Listening, Clear Speech Works, Dialogue, Hospitality English and Test Mountain.
4. Working on the
course studies
Each of these studies contain modules and units that are appropriate to your proficiency level.
These studies will help you enhance your English, so do not take them for granted. For this
summer, you are required to finish a specific number of hours or more on each of them.
5.Taking PLACEMENT TEST
for midterms and finals
A specific time frame will be given for you to finish your hours. I do not give
paper pencil exams; the placement test will serve as your midterms and finals
examination. Make sure to do well on them.
