Proposed project title
CLEANING RIVER USING WATER TREATMENT TECHNIQUES
2.
Selected Theme
REDUCING RIVER POLLUTIIN
3.
Abstract
Pollution levels in rivers can be lowered by reducing the amount of untreated wastewater
that enters them and by ensuring a continuous flow to dilute the polluted water we can
reduce the river pollution by afforestation, it is term which refers to a process of planting
trees on the sides of the river beds, after that providing iron or rope nets in the river then
we can collect the waste material easily than providing filter dusters, savage can be
removed by placing filter dusters or by using sewage treatment plant process, sewage
treatment plant can be used to treat the wastewater. Copper sheets are layed under the
water through a canal construction can kill the microbes and bacteria in between water
cleaning plants also comes into picture with appropriate planning.

Case study area
The Ganga is the second largest on the Indian subcontinent by discharge. To set a length of
2,510 KM with the depth of 16m (52 ft). This project is on river body Ganga and making it
free from pollution. So obviously the study area is river Ganga.

Project concept
The main objective of our project is to clean the river Ganga with appropriate nontechnical ways.
NETS
BOOMS
FILTER DUSTERS
COPPER SHEETS
WATER CLEANING PLANTS
The above shown picture illustrates the stepwise concept in cleaning water bodies.
Nets are used (metal or hard rope) all the solid particles are collected such as plastic bottles
wood logs etc.,

Booms are temporary floating barriers used to contain marine spills, protect the
environment, and assist in recovery. A boom includes a containment partition that floats on
and extends above the water's surface, and a "skirt" or "curtain" that sinks into the water.
The filters used to clean the small dust particles which are mixed in it, by arranging some
different duster duster a cross river with a distance of 400 to 500 metres for each up to four
layers.
Finally the clean water comes out of those dusters but there are some microbes(bacteria) in
the water that could even eliminated for some part with copper sheet layed in a narrow
canal typed structure, by arranging them with a distance of 2 to 3 km mostly 30 to 40
percentage of water may be without harmful microbes(bacteria) in between the water
cleaning plants like oxygenating pond plants, floating pond plants, water lris and water
cress are arranged to grow at the sides of river beds which are layed in water but don't
move along with waterflow, plants uses excess nutrients for their growth and cleans the
water, simultaneously helps in river ecosystem. Along the river afforestation is done to
avoid soil erossion during floods.

Envisaged outcomes
The measure of outcome of our project is that clean and neat Ganga River, which is even
suitable for bathing, drinking and mainly to preserve our great river without falling it again
into pollution track. Even the collected waste particles can also be used for the electrical
power generation using biomass techniques.
