Horticulture Sequence Introduction to gardening and plants (9,10, 11 or 12) – semester long course. Hands-on. Students will learn basic plant care while working in the high school greenhouse. Each student will have the opportunity to grown at least two crops in the greenhouse as they learn about basic plant growth, care, and identification of common garden plants and house plants. Careers in the field of horticulture will also be covered. (Ideally a spring semester course). Horticulture Studies? (10,11 or 12). This semester course will continue what students learned in Introduction to Gardening and Plants delving into the basics of horticulture as we cover fertilization, basic pest management, propagation techniques, and care of various greenhouse crops and plants. Hands-on course working in the school greenhouse. Horticulture 101 – (11.12) (This is Horticulture Investigations now).. Dual-credit JJC course. Yearlong course. List the content from JJC. (this one should have some field trips especially to JJC). Greenhouse Management (11/12) – Spring semester course. Students learn about basic greenhouse structures and principles of managing a commercial greenhouse as they organize and plan the spring plant sale. (Use current course description)
