In the East of U.S.A
In the East the land is flat and low.
Sea level: Land that is sea
level with the surface of the
Ocean.
A coastal plain is an area of
low land that lies along the
coast of a ocean.
In the Middle of U.S.A
The Great Plains
Plateau: is a high, flat area
of land.
Great plains: a high plateau
of grasslands
The Mississippi starts at a high place and flows to
lower land.


Tributary: is a river or
a stream that flows
into a larger river.

The mouth: of a river
is the place where it
empties into a larger
body of water.
In the West of U.S.A
The first mountains you see in the West are the Rocky
Mountains.
Basin: is low, bowl shaped land
with higher ground around it.
Canyon: is a deep, narrow
valley with steep sides.
