(1 Chro.11: 1-11) Therefore, administration is the part of leadership that makes the realization of particular goals possible. Goal: is a long or short term target with proposals that you place or the administration places in front as a specific step or challenge towards accomplishing your ultimate purpose. Achievement: it is the realization of a goal or purpose. It is to finish, to carry out, to bring to an end or to obtain a final result. Characteristics of a good goal A good goal should obey SMART principle. S: specific: this means that the goal in question must be made clear e.g, to say that the ministry wants to build a 5000 seater auditorium is more specific than to simply say the ministry wants to build an auditorium. M: measurable: this implies that the limits of the goal should be clear. We should know how for example how long it can cost us to accomplish this goal and how much it can cost us. A: achievable: we should only set goals that we can achieve, e.g. we cannot hope to construct a 5000 seater auditorium if we don’t have the financial or material resources that can sponsor that. R: realistic: our goals must equally be realistic in that we cannot hope to construct for instance a building that needs 5 hectares of land on a 2hectare land. This is not real and it is impossible. T: Time: our goal must equally have a time frame during which we hope to realise it. Is it a five-year project? Or a ten-year project? This must be made clear. Some additional qualities for setting goals Calculate the amount of time and energy needed to accomplish the whole task. Lk 14:24-33 Anticipate distractions, hindrances and obstacles that will most likely be in the path. Determine the practical steps that must be taken towards the realization of your goals Make sure you spend time on your knees as you prepare your goals. Some Arguments or Objections to the Idea of Setting Goals. Some people say, goal setting is not specifically referred to in the Bible. Some people say, goal setting violate the principle of faith and believing God. Some people say, goal setters are focused people and are not fun to be around. Others say, goals setting set as up for failure and the consequences that follows it. Why is it important for administration to set goals? 1. Setting goals makes life meaningful, interesting and exciting. 2. Goals are effective ways to measure our efforts 3. Goals give us target towards which to aim our faith and our confession. 4. Goals help us to stay focus and motivated 5. Goals setting forces us to stretch and move from mediocrity to excellence. 6. Goals can keep us moving on the path towards ultimate success. Goal setting and achievement keeps us fresh and alive. NB: goals can be affected by some or all of the following; 1. Friends: wisdom demands that those who are not going your direction do not deserve your association. 2. Family: Do not be too attached to your family than the things of God. 3. Circumstances 4. Personal needs Culture How to achieve our goals * Be determine and perseverant * Be discipline * Count the cost and be willing to pay the price for your dreams to be realised * Strife for excellence in all that you do * Cultivate a Godly sense of priority * Manage and utilize the resources you have wisely. How does goal setting relate to the will of God Goals must be submitted to God and in harmony with His purpose for our lives. Goal setting before the Lord is more like goal discernment. When goals are discerned and set, God will cooperate with us in the reaching out of these goals. Goals can actually become statements of faith regarding what we believe to be God’s will for our lives and ministry. The titles of officials and sometimes their names are enclosed in boxes or circles. Lines are generally drawn from one box or circle to another to show the relation of one official or department to the others Points to consider in establishing a church organigram: The way you organize your church depends greatly on the governance model you create. Some churches are pastor-led; some are board-led; and some are congregationalled. The chosen governance model will dictate its structure. An important aspect of church governance is having an active board that oversees the fulfillment of the church mission. This is done by developing strategy, financial oversight, monitoring risk and ensuring legal compliance – while adhering to established church bylaws. New churches all have the same needs as established churches (volunteer support, music, production, facility, finance) but often lack the resources that are available to more established churches. Nonetheless, it is important for a church plant to establish its structure, so that as it grows, there will be a natural placement of resources as they become available. Sample:
