Lo-ok girls’ table tennis was proclaimed as champion in a single elimination during the
Unit Meet last September 20-21 held at Lapu-Lapu City Central Elementary School with the
score of 2-0.
It was a roller coaster encounter between Lo-ok ES and Babag 2 ES.
Rosheil
Montesclaros hardly defeated her opponent because of tense until she conquered it and
became brave enough to fight. She had tried some tricks and decided to have sidespin that may
result her to win in the first game, 11-10. The opponent had struggled to receive the chop serve
of Kazumi Baguio with a combination of topspin during the rally. Hannah Amoin from Babag 2
can’t control the attack that made Lo-ok leading 11-7. But in the next game, Kazumi was
defeated from Quino when she was out of control of the ball during the rally and lost the game,
6-11. In the fourth game, Kazumi turned into a wild hungry cat and beat the opponent from
Babag 2. The players for championship were 2 from Lo-ok ES, 1 Babag 1 ES and 1 Babag 2 ES. It
was a close fight between Montesclaros and Quino that have tied the score until had a deuce
and leading the score of 2-0. Rosheil Mae Montesclaros ranked first, Bryssa Quino from Babag
ranked second. For the next game, Baguio determined to win which she quickly defeated Amoin
from Babag 2, so Kazumi Baguio ranked third.
Two players from Lo-ok ES will qualify for the City Palaro this coming October 16-19.
“Giving a second chance is a choice and I made the right choice of letting them played the game
after of what happened few weeks before the unit meet. Discipline and attitude are the main
ingredients of winning the game.”, according to Mrs. Barrida, coach.
