VUCA World
What are the crises experienced by the teachers this time of
pandemic?
A high percentage of teacher showed the following:
*Anxiety
*Depression
*Stress symptoms
(Santamaria, et.al., 2021)
Definitions of Anxiety, Depression, and Stress
*Anxiety Disorder- this involves repeated
episodes of sudden feelings of intense
anxiety and fear (Mayo Clinic, 2021)
These feelings of anxiety interfere with
daily activities and are difficult to control.
*Depression- is a mood disorder that causes a
persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest.
Also called major depressive disorder or clinical
depression, it affects how you feel, think and
behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and
physical problems. You may have trouble doing
normal day-to-day activities, and sometimes you
may feel as if life isn't worth living (Mayo Clinic,
2021)
Definitions of Anxiety, Depression, and Stress
*Stress-has the ability to negatively impact our lives.
It can cause physical conditions such as headaches,
digestive issues, and sleep disturbances. It can also
cause psychological strains including confusion,
anxiety and depression (Healthline, 2021)
-stress that is constant can result in high
blood pressure or weakened immunity system
according to American Psychological Association
-It can also contribute to obesity and heart
disease.

pandemic?
The teachers need to adapt their
practices and be creative to keep
students engaged as every household
has become a classroom more often
than not without an environment that
supports learning
The pandemic has highlighted the need
for flexibility and more time for studentteacher interaction.
(Barron et.al., 2021)

personal safety of teachers.
Next to personal safety, the quality of life
or QoL of the teachers is also affected
during the pandemic
(Rabacal et.al.2020)

Operational challenges- Poor internet
connectivity (this hinders delivery online
teaching and the delivery of the lesson)
-electric power
interruption
students’ attendance
Psychological challenges- online
teaching induced changes in teachers
eating pattern and could be a problem in
maintaining their healthy diet.

pandemic?
Online teaching arrangements became
unsustainable and some universities had
to suspend remote or online classes
because the uneven status of students
affected their access to these modalities
of learning.
Mental health of both students and
teachers affected by uncertainty
(Simbulan, 2020)
What are the crises experienced by the teachers this time of
pandemic?
Motivating students
Using ICT
Managing the time allotted for online
sessions

influences the work commitment of
public school teachers.
Teachers' high efficacy belief in
effectively managing unforeseen
circumstances at work caused by the
