IBM Systems Lab Services — Proven IT Infrastructure Expertise ibmsls@us.ibm.com Future Made | | 92 IBM Systems Lab Services — Migration Factory Oracle License Optimization Assessment Overview Key Features Migration Factory works with clients who run Oracle database software on IBM and non-IBM platforms and would like to reduce their license costs. Through a multi-step process we assess hardware sizing, license usage, database features and options used as well as analyze performance data, utilization data and HA/DR requirements. Oracle License Optimization is for clients who run Oracle database software. The assessment is a multi-step process, which starts by looking at the benefits of a simple upgrade to the newest Power servers. The second step analyzes the actual workload to look at optimizations that can be achieved through consolidation. Step three provides "Best Practices" how to migrate to the new POWER9 hardware. Step four assesses savings that could be achieved by moving to the less expensive Oracle Standard Edition and by avoiding the unnecessary use of licensed database options. Target Audience Clients who want to reduce Oracle Database license costs: • Running Oracle Databases on POWER8 or older IBM hardware • Running Oracle Databases on HP, SUN or x86 hardware Benefits Deliverables • • Executive summary Report for every step about potential savings and how to implement, e.g. A major IT cost is Oracle licensing and maintenance. The Migration Factory's process helps clients realize significant savings in this area through making a number of actionable recommendations. Qualifying Questions • Does your client want to reduce Oracle Database licensing costs?
