Essay on the topic "Eastern Slavs". The history of the Russian state was constantly being rewritten, where numerous adjustments and changes took place, so it is difficult to say exactly who the Eastern Slavs are and what their origin is. But still we will try to solve this riddle with the help of the information that is currently available about this mysterious people. Who are the Eastern Slavs? What did they look like? What were their basic ideas, worldviews and value orientations? The geography of the settlement of the East Slavic tribes in the second half of the 1st millennium is described in the "Tale of Bygone Years", the author of which was the monk Nestor. The chronicler believed that the Slavs came and sat down along the Dnieper and called themselves glades, and others - Drevlyans, because they sat down in the woods, and others sat down between Pripyat and Dvina and called themselves Dregovichi, others sat down on the Dvina and called themselves Polochans, along the river flowing into the Dvina, called Polota, from which the Polochans were called. The same Slavs who sat down near Lake Ilmen were called by their own name Slavs, and built a city, and called it Novgorod. And others sat down on the Gum, and on the Diet, and on the Sula, and called themselves northerners. And so the Slavic people dispersed, and by his name and the letter was called Slavic. Perhaps this is exactly how the settlement of the Slavs took place. We have only a choice to believe in this version of the origin of the Slavic people or not. But it is still worth relying on the fact that these chronicles are confirmed by archaeological finds: the difference in customs among different tribal unions is clearly demonstrated by the variety of funerary structures. The Eastern Slavs are a group of related peoples speaking Eastern Slavic languages, who merged into a single nationality and made up the main population of the Old Russian state, these are our ancestors, the first mention of which dates back to the beginning of our era. They were distinguished by their tall stature, powerful physique, possessed extraordinary physical strength and extraordinary endurance, which is quite similar to our Russian people today. As for the main occupations of the Eastern Slavs, most of them were peaceful farmers, hunters, fishermen, gatherers, miners, cattle breeders. They did not live in dugouts, but in warm houses, which were called huts. The Eastern Slavs sowed on the right sunny days when the earth was ripe, and they did it according to the traditions of their ancestors, since disrespect, disrespect for their ancestors was considered a grave sin. The Slavs did not like to fight, that is, they were adherents of the fact that all emerging problems should be solved exclusively by peaceful means. They lived for the glory of the family, celebrated especially sunny days, led round dances and worshipped the Sun. They raised children, looked after the household, and the main task of the family was considered procreation. Based on this description, the conclusion suggests itself that the Eastern Slavs are a peaceful and friendly people who lived by their own rules, obeyed their own law and brought absolutely no negativity to other peoples of that historical time. And without a doubt we can say that the Eastern Slavs were distinguished by the breadth of their soul, a sympathetic and kind heart. Slavs are a people who knew how to enjoy this life and live it happily! Thus, the Eastern Slavs are a very mysterious people, the secrets of whose origin have not been solved so far. But we are obliged to honor the memory of our ancestors and try to study their origins in history lessons, because it was thanks to them that the beginning of the birth of our modern, truly Russian society was laid.
