ELEMENTS ASSIGNMENT




You are to choose an Element from the Periodic Table and answer
ALL OF THE QUESTIONS below in complete sentences.
Your work is to be presented in a DIGITAL FORMAT (for example Google Slides,
PowerPoint etc.) and should include multiple pictures of your element and products
that are made from it.
The website below (and pictures above) will give you a suggested starting point, but
it is expected you will use your textbook and several resources for this task.

1. Name the element and give the Periodic Table symbol.
2. a) State whether your element is a solid, liquid or gas at room temperature?
b) What is the melting point of your element?
c) What is the boiling point of your element?
3. a) What is the atomic number of your element and what does it tell you about your
element?
b) Include a picture of an atom of your element. Include a key to show protons,
neutrons and electrons. Make sure you have the correct amount of each and the
correct number of electron shells.
4. a) Who discovered your element?
b) When and how was it discovered?
d) Write a brief history of your element.
5. a) In what form is your element found in nature?
b) How is the pure element extracted from its natural source?
6. What are the main uses of your element?
7. a) Is your element commonly found on earth or is it rare? Can you find out what
percentage of the Earth’s crust or atmosphere it makes up?
b) Is your element expensive? Can you find out its current market price?
8. Include a bibliography of the references you used (at least four references)
