Student organizations -which consists of clubs and societies and student interest group- help in enhancing our social life in the campus while promoting the well-being of students. Student Support Services Department (SSSD) with Student Representative Council (SRCUTP) specifically Research & Club Development (RCD) members will support the development of clubs and societies on our campus to increase the number of student activities and events throughout the year. RCD-SRCUTP and SSSD will also assist the students in establishing and managing the clubs and societies. In Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Clubs & Societies are divided into 5 categories: Student Body Student Support Group Student Development Club Academic Club Sports Club There is also a Student Interest Group (SIG) under the management of Co-curriculum Unit. SIG is not considered as a club or society. The differences between clubs and societies and SIG are: Club or Society is registered under SSSD while SIG is under SSSD but supervised by the Cocurriculum Unit. Club or Society is eligible to get sponsorship from outside organizations (eg. Ministry of Sports) but not SIG. Club or Society has more advantages in getting budget and facilities usage from the university compared to SIG. Club or Society must have at least one general meeting annually but not so for SIG. Please take note that it is compulsory to join a club or society (SIG is not included) starting January 2015. It is a new policy under the management of UTP. OBJECTIVES The objectives of the student handbook are to: Provide students an overview regarding all the clubs and societies as well as student interest group in Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. Provide students with information on how they can get involved in extra-curricular activities through clubs and societies. We hope that all students will get involved in the activities and events organized by the student organizations as to achieve the university mission to produce well-rounded graduates. 4 STUDENT BODY 1) STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI PETRONAS (SRCUTP) SRCUTP DESCRIPTION SRCUTP is the highest student body in Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS.
