Cyclades® ACS 5000 Advanced Console Server Release Notes Version 1.0.2 March 19th, 2010 This document outlines: 1. Update Instructions 2. Appliance Firmware Version and Language Support Information 3. Features/Enhancements 4. Fixes 5. Known Issues / Restrictions ================================================================================== Update Instructions ================================================================================== An upgrade to the Cyclades ACS 5000 console server plug-in for DSView® 3 management software is required. In order to have all features from ACS 5000 console server firmware available through DSView 3 software, DSView 3 software version 3.4.1 or higher and ACS 5000 console server plug-in version 1.0.1 for DSView 3 software are required. An appliance firmware package to upgrade from DSView 3 software is also available. After ACS 5000 console server firmware has been upgraded to version 1.0.2, it is mandatory that the Web browser cache of any system which intends to be connected to the ACS console server Web interface is cleaned up. ACS 5000 console server firmware version 1.0.2 provides an internal mechanism which preserves existing configurations when upgrading from firmware version 1.0.0. However, it is strongly recommended that you back-up system configuration before the firmware version is upgraded. ================================================================================== Appliance Firmware Version and Language Support Information ================================================================================== Console Server/ Product Cyclades ACS 5000 Firmware Type Version Filename Part Number Opcode V_1.0.2 fl0588003.bin fl0588003.bin.md5 fl0588003.pkg FL0588-003 ================================================================================== Features/Enhancements ================================================================================== Please refer to your installation/administration/user guide for a detailed list of features supported by the Cyclades ACS 5000 console server version 1.0.2. Implemented a default IP address for Tacacs authentication configuration page Ctrl-C is sent to target device and the telnet session is not closed when using ts_menu (L365578116). ================================================================================== Known Issues ================================================================================== This release contains the following known issues: 1. Web browsers Netscape® 8.1 and Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 7.0 are not supported to access the ACS 5000 console server V_1.0.1 Web interface. 2. The upgrade of the ACS 5000 console server firmware code may fail if the internal files are concurrently being accessed by another process or operation. If this occurs, please try firmware upgrading again until it succeeds. When the upgrade operation is performed from DSView 3 software, make sure to review the Operation Results and confirm it has successfully finished before the ACS 5000 console server can be rebooted. It is also recommended that the DSView 3 software status polling is disabled while firmware upgrade is run. NOTE: Please do not reboot the ACS 5000 console server if the firmware upgrade operation has failed. It will render the console server inoperable and require technical assistance. 3. Using ACS 5000 console server Web interface, whenever a new user is configured with privileges to manage the outlets of a certain server (Ports -> Physical Ports -> Modify Selected Ports -> Power Management), it is necessary to press buttons “Try Changes” or “Apply Changes” before the new user can be seen in Applications (Applications -> PMD Configuration -> Users Management). 4. Cyclades ACS 5000 console server Enterprise MIB does not include Power Management objects for the Power Devices connected to its serial ports. Access to Power Management elements is not available through SNMP commands in ACS 5000 V_1.0.1. 5. If the Hostname Discovery functionality is enabled for a certain serial port and the connected server hostname is successfully discovered, it will not be correctly listed in the page Ports -> Physical Ports unless the user closes and reopens the Web session (logout and login again). On the other hand, for the pages Ports -> Port Status and Applications -> Access, discovered hostnames are listed immediately. 6. Connected users accessing ts_menu application are required to re-type their passwords when they select accessing a virtual port of the ACS 5000 console server. 7. At times, the data buffering menu is not shown to the user who connects to a second SSH session accessing one of the ACS 5000 console server serial ports configured to allow multiple accesses.
