SAGSAGAT Subject Teacher LABORATORY REPORT Scientific Method I. Problem A. General Problem This study attemps to find out the effectiveness of commercial fertilizer on the growth of mongo seeds. B. 1. Is the commercial fertilizer effective on the growth of mongo seeds? 2. . 3. Is there any significant difference between the mongo seed with fertilizer and without fertilizer? II. Make sure pots have holes in the bottom to allow the roots to “breathe” and excess water to drain out. 2. Measure equal amounts of soil into each of the pots. 3. Moisten the soil in each pot with an equal amount of water. 4. Label three pots with “with commercial fertilizer” and 3 pots with “no fertilizer added”. 5. Plant 3 seeds in each pot. 6. Place all plants near a sunny window or under a grow light. 7. Check your plants regularly and water when needed. a. Soil should be kept moist. b. Water the “no fertilizer added” pots with regular water. c. Water the “with commercial fertilizer" pots with water mixed with fertilizer. Be sure that the fertilizer must be dissolved first before you apply it to your setup. d. All plants should receive the same amount of liquid at each watering. e. Keep track of your watering schedule in your lab note. 8. At regular intervals, record observations on the growth of the plants (height, number of leaves on each plant) in your lab notebook weekly. 9. Allow plants to grow and mature, then make a final measurement of the growth of each plant at the fourth week. 10. Summarize your results by averaging the “no fertilizer” and “with commercial fertilizer” conditions, and prepare your table for the results. 11.
