Topic, Position, Supporting Points, Goal, and Audience
Topic
Fishing is a recreational sport, skill hobby, and even unbiased profession and has many
benefits to gain from it.
Position
Parents should take the initiative and teach their children how to fish.
Supporting Points
1. Fishing teaches children the skills and qualities needed in life as they grow to be adults and
require applying to other aspects of everyday society.
2. Fishing is beneficial and makes an impact on individuals healthwise.
3. Fishing exposes and introduces the knowledge of and appreciation for nature, our
environment, and our planet.
Goal
This paper aims to explain the positive results of teaching children to fish and help ensure
this activity's future.
Audience
Parents, future parents, any adult may be influential to a child or adolescent up to 17 years
old. Whether these individuals already participate in fishing themselves or are thinking about
learning, along with children and adolescents. They are probably unsure if teaching children or
adolescents to fish would be beneficial. Questioning whether learning themselves for those who do
not already know would positively or negatively affect themselves, the child, adolescent, or
anyone's future. They would possibly object, saying that today's children do not have time or
attention spans to learn to fish. The audience fishes and enjoys the past time or learns the
3
recreational sport by being taught by another. We all have children who look to us to learn life
skills and activities. We are unsure whether fishing is something that will still fit into the life of the
next generation.
