Who We Are…?
History…
“You are the first piece to the puzzle in
your child’s education”.
What We Do
The Educational Advocate can provide
resources, tips, and assistance, on how
to best advocate for your child’s
individual needs. You may have
questions or concerns that need to be
addressed. Your educational advocate
can help bring clarity to the IEP
process. This may be through
classroom observations, navigating
education jargon, clarifying any
academic testing procedures, or
verifying that the student’s rights are
being followed at the state and federal
level.
Service Inc. of Illinois was founded in 1989
by over 30 health care, social service
agencies and advocacy organizations to
provide independent service coordination
services to people of all ages with
developmental disabilities. All services are
free of charge, without regard to race,
color, religion, national origin, sex, or age.
Mission…
Helping people with developmental
disabilities access choices for a better life.
Purpose…
Service Inc. of Illinois is dedicated to
helping people with developmental
disabilities find the services and supports
they need to live a better life.

Assistance
“Every child deserves a
champion – an adult who will
never give up on them, who
understands the power of
connection and insists that
they become the best they can
possibly be.”
IEP
When your child with special needs
enters the public school system, they
will need an Individualized Education
Plan (IEP) to receive services. Services
can include special seating
arrangements, OT/PT, Speech therapy,
extra time on tests, and sensory time
amongst others.
Did you know……
There are laws in place that provide
support to children who struggle either
socially or academically in school.
