Operations Case 1
Situation: Usha Handling Company is currently faced with an inventory rotation problem. This
difficulty stems from the fact that some supplies must be used prior to a stated expiration date.
Upon receipt, a new shipment of these perishable items must be stacked beneath the boxes that are
currently in inventory. A substantial amount of time is consumed in restacking the items according
to their expiration dates. The company would like to reduce the double and sometimes triple
handling of items. How can this goal be achieved? Are there alternative solutions which might also
be effective?
Operations Case 2
Situation: With the rapid onset of the Omicron strain, the government of India wants to make its
COVID Vaccine delivery faster and reduce wastage. Assume this is a new vaccine and the entire
country needs to be vaccinated again. Design a supply chain & operations strategy to accomplish this
goal in less than 3 months. Please state any assumptions made.
Sales Case 1
Situation: Pickrr has developed an online dashboard that can be used by businesses to quickly and
easily ship orders across the country. This allows the user to choose from 12 different courier
companies to ship, and they can even choose to ship at the least cost or ship with the lowest
delivery time. Shipments done via Pickrr dashboard already cost less compared to directly
approaching a courier company. The company has a small number of beta customers and is
planning to charge a small subscription fee from every user when the dashboard is ramped up. How
will you price the subscription, and design a sales strategy for this dashboard. Do make and state any
assumptions necessary.
