Performance Standard The learner transfer learning by: resolving conflicts presented in literary selections; using tools and mechanisms in locating library resources; extracting information and noting details from texts to write a precis, summary or paraphrase; distinguishing between and using literal and figurative language and verbal and non- verbal cues; use phrases, clauses and sentences meaningfully and appropriately. Introduction: 1. Preliminary Activities: a. Greetings b. Prayer c. Checking of Attendance d. Review previous lesson 2. Motivation: The teacher will play the song entitled, “ Magdalena”. Instruct students to listen and be ready to answer the follow up questions. Motive Question: Who do you think is Magdalena as referred to the song? What are her dilemmas? In the line, “ Magdalena, ikaw ay sawim-palad. Kalian ba kaya ka nila maiintindihan?”(Magdalena, you have misfortunes in life. When will they understand you?) What do you think is reiterated in this line? 3. Activating Prior Knowledge: Teacher will ask students, “ Do you know what are your rights?” (Possible answers: Right to suffrage, right to live peacefully etc.) How about the rights of the women? B. Interaction: A. Lesson Proper: After soliciting ideas to students about their rights and the rights of women, lead students to the new lesson. The teacher will divide the class; see to it that there are equal number of boys and girls in a group. Teacher will introduce the topic about declarative sentence. (Declarative Sentence is a sentence that aims to make a statement, about a fact, make a point or state an idea. It ends with a period.) Discuss further with students and solicit examples. (Example: Women have the right to vote. It states a fact, thus it is a declarative sentence.) C. Integration: For the group activity, each group will be asked to suggest ways on how to eliminate violence against women. The group will have to choose a secretary and reporter/s for the presentation of their output. The group will have to list down all of the known violence against women then beside it, they will have to suggest ways on how to eliminate the said problem. Make sure all of the answers should be written as declarative sentence. Example output: Known Violence against women 1. Women were given less Ways on how to Eliminate it 1.1 Equal opportunity for priority for promotion. men and women. 1.2 Women should be given chance for them to show their potential as leaders Lead students to the following generalization: Every woman has the right to live her life safely and free of violence. The best way to eliminate violence against women is to prevent it from happening. Prevention should start early in life, by educating and working with young boys and girls promoting respectful relationships and gender equality. IV. Evaluation: Identify if the declarative statement is stating a FACT, making a POINT or stating an IDEA. ________1. In this generation, women can do what men can also do. ________2.
