1-2. THE WORLD STANDARD OF OTA TEST
Several recommended methods of 5G device measurement are advised by
the international standard—3GPP.
In the 5G measurement, almost all the companies are advised to measure in
far-field by using a horn antenna.
The weakness of the measurement in far-field is that the distance between
the terminal and the tester is over meters, the large equipment has to be constructed.

2-1.WHAT IS ANTENNA COUPLER?
◇Antenna coupler?
The coupling antennas are used in measurement.

Have a advantage of high frequency bands.(MHzs~GHzs)
but the VSWR will be increasing.

EVM(Error Vector Magnitude) means the accuracy of the digital transmit.
When EVM is worsening, the symbol point in the picture will be in chaos (polarization and phase)、 In
the worst-case, the communication will be unavailable.

occurs, the places of the symbol points will
be disturbed and the EVM will be

③When the antenna coupler during total reflection, although the VSWR
will be worsened, the huge changes of phase will not be happened
with a moderate characteristics.
The antenna coupler is designed to be able to measure objects nearby and closely contact,
and absorbe the huge changes of the phase at the total reflection.
By covering the obverse side of the antenna coupler with metal plate, even during the total
reflection, the phase and the reflection attenuation is stable. So, by contacting couplers with
smart phone closely and flatting the coupling characteristics, the EVM value will be
improved.

depends on the measuring frequency band.
