Macramé and Basketry – Week 1-3
Grade 12 - TVL 2
What I know (Activity 1)
1. Because they use raw materials from nature, handicrafts from macramé and basketry are
more sustainable and eco-friendly. There is also no machine needed.
2. Macramé and basketry are both handicrafts - a type of craft where people make things using
only their hands or basic tools. Both are usually decorative or made for a particular use.
3. Benefits of doing macramé and basketry:
a. Helps you relax and take away stress
b. Make money with self employment
c. Enhances brain productivity
d. Cultivate the artistic feeling
e. Reusability of waste materials
What is it (Activity 2)
1. Sling bag – it is a macramé sling bag owned by sister
2. A hammock – it is a macramé old white hammock we have
3. Fruit basket – it is wooden and we use it to place fake fruits on the table
4. Boho headpiece – it is a macramé headpiece I bought in Siquijor 2 years ago
5. Bukag basket – we use it to place avocados and mangos during their harvest season

Reflection:
1. I can promote macramé and basketry by sharing it to my friends and neighbours. I will share
information to my friends from the local youth club as well. I can also post projects in social
media to reach more people.
2. Yes, there is as it has so many benefits not just for youngsters but also adults.
