If you are looking to see some of the most interesting and diverse species of
animals and types of plants – the rainforest is the place to go. Rainforests are a
biome that are defined by having a hot, moist climate and dense vegetation.
Rainforests are also home to millions species of plants and animals and that’s
why it is important to protect them!
Rainforests warm and wet all year long. The average temperature is between 70
degrees and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Rainforests are called this for a reason –
they are very wet! Rainforests get a lot of rain with 80 to 400 inches of rain a
year.
The rainforest is home to many species of animals. Some animals include sloths,
tigers, jaguars, tapirs, anacondas, caimans and many monkeys including howler
monkeys and spiders monkeys and the orangutan, which is an ape. Tropical
birds like toucans and macaws make their home in the rainforest. There are also
thousands of insects and butterflies.
Rainforests are located in warm climates near the equator. Rainforests can be
found in Central and South America, Australia, western and central Africa and in
parts of India and Asia. Rainforests are very warm and very wet. They do not
have seasons. It stays warm all year! The world’s largest rainforest is the Amazon
rainforest in South America, which is 1.4 billion acres big.
In conclusion, it is important to protect the rainforests. They are home to many
amazing animals and millions of trees, which keep the planet healthy.
