Interview Consent Form
Dear Participants,
I am a PhD candidate with the Department of Foreign Language Education at Eastern Mediterranean
University. I am conducting this research as a fulfilment for my PhD requirement. I am currently
carrying out a study titled “An Exploration of University Students’ Attitudes and
Motivation towards Learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in a Multilingual
and Multicultural Context.” I kindly invite you for an interview of about 20 minutes. I do not
anticipate that there are any risks associated with your participation, but you have the right to
stop the interview or withdraw from the research at any time. This consent form is necessary
for us to ensure that you understand the purpose of your involvement and that you agree to
the conditions of your participation. Please read the information and then sign this form to
certify that you approve the interview will be recorded and a transcript will be produced.
Access to the interview transcript will be limited to me and my supervisor with whom we
collaborate as part of the research process. Furthermore, any summary interview content, or
direct quotations from the interview, which are made available through academic publication
or other academic outlets will be anonymized so that you cannot be identified, and care will
be taken to ensure that other information in the interview that could identify yourself is not
revealed. Finally, the actual recording will be kept.
It will not in any way affect your academic grade in whatever manner, it is only for the
fulfilment of the course requirements. Your participation is equally voluntary please. You are
not compelled in any manner. Therefore, you are free to withdraw from the study at any time.
