EMERGENCY BUSHFIRE MANAGEMENT POLICY
PURPOSE
While William Ruthven Primary School has NOT been identified as a school on the Bushfire At-Risk
Register, as part of the school’s Emergency Management Procedures it will implment some
precautionary strategies on a routine basis to ensure the safety of the students, staff, parents,
carers, volunteers and visitors, as well as the physical school premises.
AIM
 To To provide a safe environment for all particularly in relation to bushfires.
IMPLEMENTATION
William Ruthven Primary School will maintain:
 A schedule for monitoring and removal of materials that may be easily ignited, including
branches overhanging buildings, debris and rubbish around and under buildings, including
gutters, and dry grass and vegetation.
 Safe storage of flammable material.
 Building exits are continuously kept clear of obstructions.
 Assembly points are designated and have appropriate access to emergency equipment.
 There is access to facilities and grounds for emergency vehicles.
 The regular monitoring of emergency access to buildings and grounds.
