2 Definition: Autism refers to developmental disorder that involves range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills ,repetitive behaviors ,speech and nonverbal communication. SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF AUTISM They have abnormal facial expression. They avoid eye contact with people . Intense in certain topic. They have learning disability . They also have unusual reactions when in social settings. They have sleeping problems . They have difficulties in developing and maintaining relationships . They may have an increase or decrease in sensitivity to specific sensory information from the surroundings 3 , SUPPORT HOW TO SUPPORT SOMEONE WITH AUTISM If you notice them having meltdown or not responding try this way: You give them time -they may take a while to recover. Show calmness and tolerance and try to be friendly while talking to them-they might need more time to respond than you might expect . Try to create quiet and safe environment as best as you can. Ask people around them to move along and not to stare,turn off loud music and turn down bright lights.
