Question 4
Read the text below.
CONFESSION
Dear all,
I am facing a problem at home. I feel that my mother is not listening to me. All she does
is get mad at me whenever she sees me doing something else apart from studying. I am so stressed
and under pressure. She cannot expect me to study all the time! I need time to unwind as well.
I know that I will be sitting for the final year examination end of this year but this is
driving me up the wall. She is always busy at work and has no time for me. She leaves for work
very early in the morning and returns home late in the evening. She expects me to study even
after she is home. But, I want to spend time with her.
Losing my father in a car accident has certainly impacted our lives. My mother has
become a completely different person altogether. She works very hard to support the family and
has become a workaholic.
I miss her old self and the times we spent together. I tried talking to her but she just
wouldn’t listen. However, as much as I am stressed out, I still love her and it hurts to see her
working so hard.
What should I do?
Stressed Out.

Question 5
Read the poem below carefully. Then, answer questions (a) - (c).
My Hero
My dad’s as brave as a dad can be,
I rate him Number One,
He’s not afraid off the dead of night,
Or anything under the sun
He’s not afraid of vampires,
Or a wolf-man come to get him,
If Frankenstein’s monster knocked on
your door,
He wouldn’t let that upset him.
He’s not afraid of a late-night film,
Full of horrors on the telly,
And is he afraid of skeletons?
Not dad, not on your Nelly!
My dad’s as brave as a dad can be,
And he’s always ready to prove it.
So why, when a spider’s in the bath,
Does Mum have to come and remove it?
He’s not afraid of meeting ghosts,
He’d even smile and greet ‘em,
And things that scare most dads the most
My dad could just defeat ‘em.

Red is feeling brave
A circus cart.

Red is a sunburn
Red is a shout
A spot on your nose.

Sometimes red, is a red red rose.
Red squiggles out when you cut your hand.
Red is a brick
That says, “Watch out!”
Red is a great big
Rubber ball.
And the sounds of a band.
Red is the giant-est
Red is hotness
Colour of all.
You get inside
Red is a show-off,
When you’re embarrassed
No doubt about it –
And want to hide.

Fire-cracker, fire-engine
Living without it?

And when you’re angry
