A. CLIENT
The client of this resort development is identified as Cordova Cebu Resort
& Spa, Inc. The company is owned by Mr. Bong Huan “Charlie” Cho, who is also
the president of the CKA or Cebu Korean Association. He is the spouse of
current Cordova mayor Mary Therese Sitoy-Cho. The said project is said to be
an initiative of the Cordova Development Committee, a non-profit organization
and a management consulting firm established by the Municipal Government of
Cordova to promote projects that would help boost the municipality’s position as
a travel and leisure destination as well as aiming to raise comfort and availability
among guests and tourists. The organization has an office in Cebu City, and
according to their LinkedIn profile, has a maximum of 10 employees. These
developments are in part driven by the anticipation of the opening of the third
Cebu-Mactan bridge, the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX), which links
Cebu City directly to Cordova in Mactan Island. The said bridge is expected to
boost traffic in Cordova and in turn increase the economic position of the area.
This paved the way for the development of Cordova as a municipality but also
provided a big boost to Cebu and its neighboring provinces.
According to the CEO of Cordova Development Committee, Mr. Cho, the
group is also to bring in investments to Cordova that concentrate on areas like a
proposed golf course, port development, schools, medical facilities, subdivisions,
and the development of Hilotongan as a tourist spot.
With so many proposed projects for Cordova and for it being a reclamation
area, the town was said to be an “’underdeveloped jewel’ with tons of potential”
according to Zan Hai International Trade, Ltd chief executive officer Ji Young Mo.
This makes a great attraction for Cordova to tourists.
Mr. Cho actively participates in the many ventures that his wife, Mrs.
Therese Sitoy-Cho, aims to fulfill as Mayor of Cordova, Cebu. As mayor, one of
her priorities is to transform the town of Cordova into a booming city. In 2014, Mr.
Cho started plans to set up a tourism center in Barangay Dayas, Cordova. The
tourism center, which would be called Cordova Tourism Center, is set to draw, not
only tourists of different countries, but investors as well. Mr. Cho also mentioned
that this joint venture will be done with the help of Korean investors.
With the benefit of the new Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway, tourists and
locals in Cordova would expectedly rise. Which then would be beneficial for the
resort and as well as to the company owner, for he could gain more guests and
income; since the resort is surrounded with local tourist spots and popular
landmarks. The location of the resort would be such a good catch for the growth
of the company.
Mr. Cho wanted a resort that would enhance guest experience. The resort
would be a facility that would serve local and international tourists that would
provide employment opportunities. He wanted the facility to have an open plan
so that the spaces would be flexible, to respond to a variety of gatherings.

Gabi Resort and Spa can accommodate multiple guests with 40
rooms ready for booking. Rooms are available with different options of
amenities, such as Superior Room, Deluxe Room, and Deluxe Room
(Poolside), which are 30 sqm in floor area. Meanwhile, the Junior Suite
and Suite Rooms are 60 sqm in floor area. All 40 rooms face towards the
equilibrium pool.
