JOURNAL ENTRY 3
As I reflect on the things that I value in life I thought of God, Family, Respect, Integrity,
Education, Friendship, Self and Tolerance or Compromise. For me, I see the top 3 choices as
Moral Values that serve as guiding principles in my life. First is God, being enrolled in a catholic
school since nursery and growing up in a religious family had a great impact in having the value
of Christ centeredness instilled in me. At a young age I was taught to put God first in whatever
situation I face and to include him in every endeavors that I take. Through my experiences as I
grew up, placing God in the center of my life has taught me to be mindful of my words and actions
so that I will not offend anyone. Moreover, it also gave me hope and comfort through tough times.
Second is Family, our family is our foundation. It is where we first are first taught of the basic
things in life like the values of honesty, respect and responsibility. For me the value of family is a
moral value as in every actions that I make I always think of my family, wherein they will not be
disappointed specially my parents. Example of this is in working hard in my studies so that after I
graduated I could help in sending my siblings to school and not be a burden to my parents. Third,
is Respect, I believe that one should respect a person like how one wants to be respected. Being
able to respect others especially those that are deemed to be weak shows the humility of a person
as one does not see himself as superior to them and accept them for who they are. Furthermore,
respecting others shows a persons sincerety in their actions and it promotes a comfortable
environment.
