Education is a fundamental human right that makes people free. It provides students tools to
deal with all kind of tough situation they are going though in their lives. Most students decide
to pursue higher education after high school to get a degree and become successful
professional. Pupils can attend classes in a traditional university such as Oxford or Cambridge
or they can study in an open university, in other words, a distance learning university. There
are two main similarities and two main differences between these types of universities.
On the one hand, there are two main similarities between traditional and open universities.

universities’ professors have to teach their students, set assignments and mark exams as well
as traditional universities’ professors. Thus, both types of universities provide tutors to guide
students and help them so they can acquire the knowledge required. Second, the degree that
students get in open universities is as valuable as traditional universities’ degrees. Both types
of universities provide degrees that are fully recognized qualifications which might be
extremely useful when trying to find a good job.

anywhere without the constraints of physical presence as professors can teach them though
video types, conference or audio types. In contrast, traditional university’s students must
attend classes and be physically present in a classroom to be able listen to lecturer and learn.
Second, open universities offer more flexible schedules. You can study at you own speed and
anytime. It allows many students to have full time jobs to pay tuition fees as they do not have
to stick to strict schedules. Unlike open universities, students of traditional university have to
stick to timetables, attend classes at a specific time and meet strict deadlines which make it
difficult for some students to land a job or perform extracurricular activities.
