College is defined as:
A college is a center of learning where students may enroll in a variety of degree and diploma
programmes aimed at further their education in certain fields. Colleges, overall, are a
component of universities. However, some schools are autonomous and not associated with
any university, therefore the degrees and certificates are awarded by the institution itself. They
are smaller than a university, and as a result, each student receives excellent individual
attention from the teachers. They might be owned by the government or by individuals.
University is defined as:
A university is a place of learning where students can enroll in a variety of degree, diploma, and
certificate programmes in a variety of fields. Because numerous colleges relate to a single
university, a university is often referred to as a collection of colleges.
Differences of College and University in India:  A college is a learning institution that provides students degree and diploma
programmes. A university is a higher education and research institution that grants
degrees and diplomas to students.
 Because there are several colleges connected with a single university, the reach of a
college is limited when compared to that of a university.
 Although the college does not provide a research programme to its students, the
university does.
 Colleges are either associated with a university or operate independently. Universities,
on the other hand, do not require connection with another institution.
 The College provides courses in a limited number of disciplines. The University, on the
other hand, provides a diverse range of courses and programmes that are not restricted
to a single field.
 A Dean or Director is the head of a college, whereas the Vice-Chancellor is the head of a
university.
 The university has a vast campus since it is built across a broad region, but the college
does not.
 The college has a restricted number of seats, which explains why there are fewer
students enrolled than at a university.
Apart from the differences mentioned above, there are many parallels between colleges and
universities, such as the fact that they might be owned, operated, and governed by the
government, private persons, or a mix of both. Both provide post-secondary education courses.
