Day 1 Monday 26th of July 2021
List 3 good things:
1. First day at ANU on campus
2. Doing my makeup
3. Talking to my daughter about her day
Reflection
Three good things that happened today where; I started my first day at ANU and attended my first
lecture, did my makeup, talked to my daughter about her day. the lecture was the introduction to
Science Communications on campus, this experience was new and exciting although I was a little bit
nervous instead of overthinking, I did my makeup which always makes me feel happy and helps me
feel put together and a little more confident for social situations. Once I arrived the nerves settled
eagerness to learn took over, this was a positive learning experience for me. Meeting the lecture and
sitting in a room full of strangers would have been an anxiety driven experience in the past as I have
struggled with social anxiety as an autistic person, this experience was proof of growth and a feeling
of peace as if I was in the right place and the right time. Talking to my daughter after school about
her day is always a highlight but today was special because I had something I could add to the
conversation about my day which in reflection, was because I had ticked off wellbeing checklists
unconsciously and this made my day more fulfilling than days in the past. In the future I will remind
myself and help other people by ensuring the PERMA model checklist is being consciously
considered when exploring and beginning a new experience. Although this experience would have
been daunting in the past this wellbeing model confirmed that the positive check in with myself in
moments where I feel like the negative emotions are taking charge and be kind to myself nurturing
positive emotions will continue to aid in my wellbeing and help to open up opportunity for new
experiences regardless of the outcome. Practicing the PERMA model personally will provide me with
tools that I can help others with providing similar support and advice for those who may struggle
with anxiety in new environments and trying new things or even just struggling with their wellbeing!
Day 2 Tuesday 27th of July 2021
List 3 good things:
1. Creating a costume
2. Lunch out
3. Organising
Three good things that happened to me today were. Helped my daughter with a costume, went out
to lunch with my cousin, and I organised my calendar and timetable. Helping my daughter create her
dalmatian costume and doing her face paint, for her 101 days of kindergarten, Mia had organised
and planned out what she envisioned, and it was lovely bonding with her while creating and
watching her ideas come to like and her confidence grow. It brought me so much happiness seeing
her get so excited about and event. Then I also sporangial agreed and went out for lunch with my
cousin on her break from work in Fishwick. I have never done this before; it was an opportunity to
catch up spontaneously as I had a pair of her shoes, I needed to return to her. She offered to pay for
lunch and a coffee for me going out of my way returning the shoes although it didn’t seem much out
of my way due to me forgetting them in the first place. It felt nice to be apricated and loved by my
cousin Sarah, I am glad I went out usually I would push things back that are spontaneous I am glad I
didn’t it was a lovely lunch with great company! Then organising my calendar and timetable then
sticking to them was a huge achievement for me as I usually struggle but the hard work seems to be
paying off, as I need to have self-discipline to achieve what I want in life through staying organised.
Having a plan and being prepared makes me super happy and it definitely was a high point! What I
could so to help others is to encourage people to do spontaneous things when they have time it
might be just what they needed, I also would recommend creating and sharing ideas with loved ones
building on meaningful relations and creating self-improvement challenges even a small one because
it feels great when you are achieving goals!
Day 3 Wednesday the 28th of July 2021
List 3 good things:
1. It rained
2. Productive
3. Support
Three good things that happened today were It rained almost all day, today was very productive and
my daughter was a super supportive super star. It rained today almost all day and it was beautiful
and tranquil also awesome for the plants! The rainy weather providing the perfect environment for
productivity today, I smashed through my To-Do list, and it felt good to accomplish what I needed to
get done for the day, this was a highlight because this morning started off slow and I wasn’t feeling
very bright due to cramping from the time of the month. My daughter made my morning and set the
tone for the day, she offered support and empathy encouraging me to push through and conquer
the morning following into the rest of the day. I learnt that even on days where it seems like not
much went amazing there are still things within your meaningful relationships, your connection to
your environment and focusing on your accomplishment with positive emotions any day can feel a
lot brighter. I would encourage anyone who has down moments and slow mornings to seek this
moment and reflect, because before writing down these three god things today I wasn’t even sure if
I had a good day but now I feel optimistic and exited for tomorrow, I would love others to have an
opportunity to feel the same.
Day 4 Thursday the 29th of July 2021
