A. Read the poem twice and think about the title and how it relates to the poem. Convey your interpretation through a short answer. POLITICS By Merlinda C. Bobis the blind are showing movies in the plaza so the deaf are gathering in the plaza so the mute can debate in the plaza the fate of one beloved nation ANSWER: Plaza is where politicians would go to persuade voters. In the poem Politics by Merlinda C. Bobis, I think the narrator thinks that politicians are the blinds who can’t really see the real problem of the nation, the people are the ones who are just there to gather but not to listen on these politicians. And the mute are the ones who debate, these are the people who are critical on the politicians’ persuasion in the plaza, they are the people who needs to be heard but sadly they are the ones who can’t speak. This poem shows that what happens on the plaza may define the future of the country. B. WHEN YOU SEE A MOTHER, YOU SEE GOD. BY Anita S. Meily “GOD COULD NOT BE EVERYWHERE PHYSICALLY, SO HE CREATED MOTHERS.” This is a common saying. Everybody loves a mother, for it is our mothers who gave us life. Anita S. Meily wants us to know that our mothers loves us like how God love his children. Both are loving without conditions, no matter how good or bad their child is, both remains good to their children. Often times we forget that we came from our mother’s womb just like how we all came to God. We also forget our mothers’ sacrifices just to give the life that we deserve. Similar to God, that’s how Anita wants us to see our Mothers. So, just like how we love and respect God, our mothers deserves it too. The following text gives tribute to mothers. The man was decorating his new den and decided it was good to display all the awards he and his two sons had won at various athletic competitions. When he had filled two whole walls, he remarked to his wife that it was shame she had no awards to contribute. The following day, she produced, neatly framed, the birth certificates of their two sons, and added them to the display. Destroy mothers and you destroy the world! ELABORATE ON THAT. ANSWER: This text reminds us that women are not just a mere woman, a woman can be a mother, and a mother can be a wife, a teacher, a doctor, a baker, a driver and a lot. Women are capable of everything. Especially mothers, we shouldn’t define them on what they accomplished because mothers consider their child as a blessing, something that they achieved. To conceive a baby for nine months is not a joke, imagine eating for two and doing things to make sure that the baby will survive and see the beauty in this world. To give someone a life is more meaningful than winning on any competition. So, never belittle mothers and wives for not achieving, being who they are, having different roles are already an achievement. No one will exist on Earth if there are no mothers. So, once you messed up with mothers, you’re messing up the world. That’s how beautiful and noble being a mother. To be a mother is definitely not an easy task but every day it is fulfilling.
