Zooue (pronounced zoo, ue is silent) is an online advertising platform for sporting events
based on geographical location and it also acts as a social platform to connect all its users.
The users of this website can be categorised in the following groups:
a. Organiser
b. Team
c. Athlete
d. Referee
e. Coach
Zooue serves 3 main functions:
Sporting organisers who can showcase, promote and organise a sporting events and
tournaments.
• What it means to showcase and promote?
Zooue woks similar to a classified site. When a sporting organiser publishes a sporting event,
users can find their desired activity by sorting it according to their preference (location,
competitive/social, category of sports/activity etc.)
• What it means to organise?
When a user expresses interest to take part in an activity, organisers can manage bookings
and payments through this portal.
Organisers can further set up fixture; add results and update news and information of an
ongoing event.
Collection of teams and individual players sporting organiser, coaches and referee. Users will
be able to register to the website and can search for other registered users.
• Why find other users?
This function lets a user locate other members with interest in a specific sport/activity based
on their geographical location. After they have been located, the website lets you connect,
whereby the user may choose to follow the activity of team/individual or choose to organise a
social/competitive game. A team/athlete can be “challenged” by another team/athlete and an
invitation will be sent to the user and the location/time and other details can be agreed upon.
There are two categories of challenge games, the first being social, and the other being rated.
Rated games can be played for agreed prize money; it is highly recommended that for a rated
game that involve prize money addition of a referee. All the other users following the
teams/athletes are made aware when they are “challenged” and also the result of the game on
completion.
• How are the results of the games decided?
If the event is selected as a social it won’t be a rated game and there won’t be any results to
the game. In the likely scenario it is a competitive game the website allows the addition of
referee who will be allowed to add results to the game. This is the safest way to decide the
results of the game. In an unlikely scenario if a referee is not added for a rated games both the
teams are allowed to complete the results at the end of the game and only if the results match
a winner will be declared otherwise it will be declared as a disputed game.
The website further allows organising training session for teams, booking courts and transfer
of players between teams. Coaches and referee are who are registered can be contacted via
registered user. They can be rated via the games they were involved in. Since referees are
very important on deciding the results of a rated game, Zooue will verify all referee account.
Notification on the last minute requirement of a player.
This function acts as a last minutes lifesaver to teams requiring a player. This can be
explained with an example, say team A (registered in Melbourne) has a basketball match
tomorrow and one of their player pulls out last minute. Team A can put out a notice which
basically states that they need a player tomorrow (time, date, venue) and any athlete in
Melbourne registered with interest in basketball will be notified of this and can choose to
contact the team and take part in the game.
**Note: Users are able to find and view a sporting event unregistered but to take part in the
activity the users need to be registered under a team or individual depending on the category
of the sport. The term “challenge” used here represents the action when a user sends an
invitation to another user to request a game.
We are generating revenue primarily by three methods:
1. Sports Organizer: when are tournament is advertised via the website, it offers that as a free
service similar to a classified. But because the registration for these tournaments take place
online as well, we charge a small amount (between 2% to 3%) on these transactions.
Organizing a soccer tournament with 10 teams and the registration fee being 100$ per team
there is 1000$ worth of transactions taking place, where we earn 25$ (avg). Moreover if an
organizer wants to promote their tournament which would come up at the top of all the search
results they may do so but they will have to be on a premium advertisement package which
would cost extra.
2. Head to head (the challenge function): the head to head is the unique and innovative
function of zooue.com. This features lets you challenge a team or an athlete on a head to head
battle. This function is inspired from the online gaming community where you challenge an
opponent for a prize money, but implementing this on to a real sports arena is simply
redefining sports itself. Here users are able to challenge opponents for a prize money and on
accepting the challenge a head to head game takes place. The entire system is cashless and is
done over zooue.com and we charge 3% on all the transaction taking place. We particular
tested this model with indoor games (such as pool and table tennis) where some players are
already playing other individual for cash but what is missing is a system to take this to the
next level. Sport teams too would be keen on playing such games as this can generate money
and since zooue.com comes with a social network implemented in its core (similar to
LinkedIn but just for athletes) of other teams and player and other users instantly become
aware of your winning thus adding "glory", the most important part of sports. Furthermore
users are able to see previous results with other opponents future games etc. add adding to a
team/athletes complete sports network package.
E.g. of a profile:
Users following ali11 or ali33 are made aware of
their game results and updates
3. Add Revenue: this is the third and the most common way of generating revenue for the
site.
Some statistic:
1. Estimated size of the sports industry: http://www.plunkettresearch.com/statistics/sportsindustry/
2. Australian bureau of statistic http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/mf/4177.0
11.1 million people involved in sports.
If we can get just 1% of that population we are looking at 0.11 million users.
If we get each of this users to spend 5 $ a month to challenge other users, involve in
competition etc they are looking at 5*12= 60$ a year
So we make 3% of that 60$ with 111,000 users a year so we are looking at 200,000 $ of
profit from the site.

This is direct income without adds just from Australia using the challenge function
only. Head to head matches are usually played 20$ or upwards, thus this is a very
conservative estimate with just (1%-4%) of the population, we want to expand this to all
parts of the world.
