Unlocking of Difficulties
What we have today is something that will
bring you back to childhood days but we will
be analyzing it in a deeper understanding.
Before we start, let us first talk about the
unfamiliar words you might encounter.
Using your phones, you can check the
definitions of each and use it in a sentence.
Understood?
Yes ma’am.
For the first word we have…
League
Who wants to answer? Yes ___.
League is an old way to measure distance, and
it was equal to about 3 miles. So half a league
is roughly a mile and a half– the
brigade/battalion was.
Very good. Someone please use it in a
sentence? Yes___.
The supermarket is half a league from our
house.
Excellent. Thank you.
For the next word we have…
Craftily
Who wants to define? Yes___.
To do something in a sly, clever or smart way.
That’s correct. Now someone use it in a
sentence. Yes___.
I wanted to do my project craftily.
Very nice. Thank you.
For the third word we have…
Nosegay
Yes___ please define it.
Nosegay is a small bunch of flowers, typically
one that is sweet-scented.
That’s right. Someone use it in a sentence.
Yes____.
I want a fresh picked nosegay for my
wedding.
That’s great. Thank you.
For the fourth word let’s have…
Latch
___ please define it.
Ma’am, latch is a metal bar with a catch and
lever used for fastening a door or gate.
Let’s have___ to use it in a sentence.
Good job. Thank you.
For the last one we have
Appease
Last one to define? Yes ___.
There are a lot of burglars these days and it
makes me want to build a latch for my gate.
If you try to appease someone, you try to stop
or prevent them from being angry by giving
them what they want. (to satisfy)
Yes that’s correct. Someone to use it in a
sentence? Yes ____.
I want to appease you by giving you your
favorite snacks.
Good answer. That’s a nice bribe.
Now that you know all that then I guess we’re
now ready to discuss the story.
C. Lesson Proper
“The story we have today is titled “Little Red
Riding Hood.” It was already a famous story
back in our childhood so who among you
have read this story?
(Students raised their hands.)
That’s good. But before we start let us first
know its magnificent author.
Wilhelm Grimm and his older brother Jacob
studied German folklore and oral traditions,
publishing a collection of stories eventually
known as Grimms’ Fairy Tales which
includes narratives like Briar Rose and Little
Red Riding Hood. Wilhelm oversaw editorial
work on future editions of the collection,
which became more geared towards children.
They also wrote the Hansel and Gretel,
Cinderella, Rapunzel, and many more.
The movies that covered these stories change
some of the parts and so if you read the
original version you might find another
insight about it.
Do you have any questions, clarification, or
things you want to share?
None ma’am.
Well then let’s proceed with the story.
D. Post Activity
I have here five questions I prepared for you
today. I’m going to call random student to
share their insights and learning. Is that clear? Yes ma’am.
Little Red Riding Hood has a red cap given
by her grandmother which really suits her and
so it made her wear nothing except that one.
What do you think it symbolizes? Yes ___.
Ma’am I think it symbolizes danger as it is
colored red or sweet as a strawberry or apple.
That’s right. But why does it seem like it is
the only one that suits her? Yes ___.
I think it symbolizes the little girl as the only
one who can save her grandmother or who
will bring danger to her grandmother.
That’s a great logic. Thank you.
Many have said it that way and that the little
girl would be like her grandma in the future.
Some critics said that red symbolizes blood or
life so they interpreted it as a pass down to
generation.
Second question.
What do you think the bread and wine
symbolizes? Yes ___.
Some said that bread and wine goes well with
each other in any occasion and it was mostly
brought during special occasions along with
the wishes you hope for the person to have.
So I think the mother decided to give those to
her mom so she would feel well soon.
That’s right. Many have said that those two
really get along well in any occasions. It is
not for her to congratulate her grandma for
being sick but to energize her so she will get
well soon. There are also some who
interpreted it as the little girl and her grandma
who gets along very well in any situation.
Third question.
Why do you think the mother send her little
child alone in the forest to deliver the goods
when she knows that it is dangerous? Yes___. I think the mother sent little red alone because
she knew her kindness and sweetness could
somehow make herself away from danger. So
she just reminded her some of warnings to
Very good. Well according to some critics she avoid.
was sent alone because her mother wanted her
to learn something and that even though she
knew it would be dangerous she trusted her
daughter fully.
Fourth question.
What do you think the wolf symbolizes as he
try to lure and coax people before he devour
them? Yes ____.
I think it represents the people who ought to
betray those around them so they could satisfy
theirselves.
Yes that’s correct. The wolf symbolizes
betrayal. You see that those kinds of people
try to take advantage especially when they
knew that the person was kind and nice.
For the last question.
The hunter came out from nowhere and saved
the two from the wolf. What do you think he
represents? Yes ____.
The hunter was like a blessing in disguise.
Because in life we know that there are
hopeless times but still we manage to
overcome because of those people or things
Very good. That’s right. I have nothing to say that came to us unconsciously to help us.
about it anymore.
Good job class!
F. Generalization
Now that we are done with the story, ____
would you like to share some learnings?
Yes ma’am. Today I learned that you should
follow the elders especially your parents
Yes that’s correct. They might not be always because they know what’s best for you.
right but most of the time they are. You
should follow them especially when they
wanted to keep you from danger.
Another one? Yes ____.
Wolf reminds me of today’s world that
whenever you go out, whatever you wear,
what gender you are, what age you are in,
there are just people who always like to
commit harm and treat people violently to
satisfy theirselves.
That’s a good example. Very well said.
You know class, this story also tells us that
even when you do good things you cannot
always avoid danger because there are always
those people who would want us hurt. But
always remember that this kind of situation is
what makes life. Just like what Cinderella
said “Be kind and have courage.”
I hope that you learned a lot from today’s
discussion. Thank you class.
