Q1. (a) A car starts from rest and with constant acceleration achieves a velocity of 15 m/s when
it travels a distance of 200 m. Determine the acceleration of the car and the time
required.

(b) A motorcyclist starting from rest travels along a straight road and for 10 s has an
acceleration as shown in Figure Q1(b). Draw the v-t graph that describes the motion
and find the distance traveled in 10 s.

Q2. (a) A car travels east 2 km for 5 minutes, then north 3 km for 8 minutes, and then west 4 km
for 10 minutes. Determine the total distance traveled and the magnitude of displacement
of the car. Also, determine the magnitude of the average velocity and the average speed.

(b) The skateboard rider leaves the ramp at A with an initial velocity, vA at a 30˚ angle as
shown in Figure Q2(b). If he strikes the ground at B,
(i) Calculate the initial velocity, v A.

(ii) Calculate the time of flight.

Q3. (a) Describe briefly two types of relative motion analysis of two particles. State the related
equations which represent on position, velocity and acceleration of independent relative
motion analysis of two particles.

(b) Figure Q3 (b) shows a car A traveling at the speed of 25 km/h while car B traveling at
the speed of 70 km/h. At the instant shown, car B is accelerating at 1100 km/h2 while
car A maintain at a constant speed. By considering on the above circumstances;
(i) Find the magnitude and direction of velocity of car A with respect to car B.

(ii) Determine the magnitude and direction of acceleration of car A relative to car B.
