Oldcastle is a small town situated in the north-western part of
Meath. It is a beautiful, scenic area with lots to do and see, fabulous
places to stay and tasty places to eat. It is very suitable for a day trip,

Loughcrew Cairns (Sliabh Na Caillighe) is megalithic tomb with
spectacular scenery and vibrant colours. The tough walk is a pleasure
once you reach the top. The Cairns are 5,000 years old. They were
built as a monument to the dead by the Celts. Local folklore tells that
they formed when a witch died on the mountain and rocks were
formed around her. Every solstice the chamber is illuminated. Inside

Loughcrew gardens is location of St. Oliver Plunketts Memorial
Church. St. Oliver Plunkett is very famous as the last catholics martyr
to die in England. It has breath-taking views with a huge variety of
flowers in the gardens. 200 acre’s garden landscaped with a lake plus
an adventure centre and coffee shop. Loughcrew is home to
incredible stories. Myths and legends and picturesque beauty.
