Lesson 3: Listening
I. Students’ level and characteristics
- Most students are at intermediate level.
- The majority of the students are active and have a moderate command of English.
II. Objectives
At the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
- listen for specific information to a conversation about the film “fast and furious 7”.
- distinguish between the sounds /θ/ and /ð/ and pronounce them correctly.
III. Relevant previous knowledge
- Students have learnt some vocabulary related to the topic.
- Students have learnt some kinds of movies in the previous lesson of the unit.
IV. Anticipated problems and solutions
4.1. Problems: Students may:
- encounter some new vocabulary which obstructs understanding.
4.2. Solutions: Teacher is expected to:
- provide students with necessary vocabulary inputs.

- Divide the class into two teams.
- Form two teams
- Give instructions.
- Set the task in motion.
- Introduce the lesson: “Today, we are
going to listen to a conversation about an
action film, which is called “Furious 7”.
PRE-LISTENING (10’)
Activity 2: Vocabulary input
- Present the vocabulary using different
techniques.
Content
Instructions:
- Students play the games in teams.
- There are three hints about one movie.
Teacher in turns give a hint.
- Any teams knowing the answer need
to say their signal before giving the type
of film.
- Guessing the type of film correctly on
the first hint, the team receives three
points.
- Guessing the type of film correctly on
the second hint, the team receives two
points.
- Guessing the type of film correctly on
the first hint, the team receives 1 point.
- The team with higher scores in the end
wins the game.
