An adjective describes a noun or a
pronoun. It tells what kind, how many, or
which one.
Examples:
 What Kind: the sun shone on the white
sand.
 How Many: Several workers rested. One
man read a book.
 Which One: Those houses belong to the
land owners.

Articles


The articles (a, an, and the) appear
before nouns or other adjectives.
Use (a) before a word that begins with a
consonant sound.
◦ Ex: a long day – a university – a meeting

Use (an) before a word that begins with a vowel
sound.
◦ Ex: an awful job – an ultimate team – an eagle

Use (the) before a word that begins with a any
letter.
◦ Ex: the ground – the stories – the American hero
