The Truth
Paying for college isn’t as expensive as you might think. Well, it may be, but it doesn’t have to come
out of your pocket, because student financial aid can help you pay the bills. There’s a lot of money
and opportunity available if you do what needs to be done.
Financial Aid Includes:
1.
Gift aid, such as scholarships and grants - which is free
money that does not need to be repaid. It includes money
from the state and federal government, private
organizations and companies, foundations, and even from
the colleges themselves.
2.
Study employment, such as part-time work study jobs which lets you earn as you learn.
3.
Student loans - which is money that is repaid over several
years, usually with interest.
4.
Education Tax Benefits - which is money you get by filing a
federal income tax return.
Why College?
• College is the pathway to
success and a better life
• College graduates earn more
money and get better jobs
• Unemployment rates are
lower for college graduates
• College will help you, help
your family
• College is fun!
5. Military Student Aid - such as ROTC and the GI Bill, where
you earn money for your education in exchange for service
in the United States Armed Forces.
