Barril, Jhan Ray G. BSMecE-2 February 15, 2021 Religious Involvement February 14 How well did you participate in your church's religious activities? 1. Yes a. Mass (Immaculate Conception Parish, Aurora Hill) b. February 14, 2021 10:00am-11:00am c. Actual participation in the Parish Church (Choir) d. The Gospel told us about the story of the Leper that Jesus approached and healed. Before, people with leprosy are shunned and discriminated not only because the disease is contagious, but also because they have branded the disease to be a sin. Because of this, there is an immense discrimination to the people who have contracted it. Now, the Gospel becomes relevant to our current issues in society, especially because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As an individual who is part of this current society, I am guilty of what was called to be a “silent discrimination” to the people who contracted the virus. There were times that I, even if I did not mean to do it, suddenly try to distance myself from people who are once close contacts of those who tested positive. I know I did not mean to do it really, plus the fact that the person who tested positive is now safe and cured while their close contacts are alright, I think and I know that this is the workings of the COVID being a social stigma. With the Gospel and the homily of our parish priest, I reflected much on how guilty I am to shun people because of that stigma and it is now in my heart to see that our brothers and sisters needed trust and compassion during this time, and allow that “Re-Integration” that Jesus did for the leper. 2. Our work can be our prayer if we dedicate it to God. Did you help with the household chores in the past week? What were the chores you regularly did for your family? How did you feel about doing the work? Where in your daily routine can you become more aware of God’s glory? - For the past week, I was already doing the household chores regularly and it includes, washing the dishes according to schedule, occasional cleaning of our room, washing my clothes and I also started to learn cooking to help my grandmother when my aunt cannot cook at night sometimes. Honestly, I felt happy doing the work for the past week but at the same time worried at some point because I know I needed to help my family, and sometimes there is much needed to do that I rush doing requirements because I was unable to observe the time it took me to do the chores. Now, in my daily routine, I know that I can become more aware of God’s glory through the food that we are eating. God’s glory is in the form of food and may the food that we partake as a family allow us to give more strength and in turn, have this food become our source of energy as we glorify Him through our days.
