The Moon revolves around the
Earth in an anti-clockwise motion.
Its orbit is elliptical.
The Moon and Earth travel
together around the Sun. It takes
365 1/4 Earth days (a year) to
complete one full revolution.
Did You Know?
The Earth takes 365.25 days to travel around the
Sun once.
The distance from the Earth to the Sun is about 150
million km.
The distance the Earth travels in its orbit around the
Sun is approximately 940 million km.
The average speed of the Earth, as it moves through
its orbit of the sun, is 30km/sec. That’s 108 000 km
per hour!
How fast is the Earth
travelling through space?
