CALM 5-4-3-2-1 MINDFULNESS CALMING EXERCISE * Anxiety and stress can be reduced with a mindful practice of using your five senses. Inhale a deep breath and exhale fully. Now look around you and notice your surroundings and say out loud the items below: 5 things you can see 4 things you physicallly feel 3 things you can hear 2 things you can smell 1 thing you can taste This exercise helps you shift your focus to the present moment and distance you from what is causing you to feel anxious. It can quickly help interrupt unhealthy thought patterns. *This technique is not a replacement for therapy.
