Biome Project Part 1: Essay (50 points) Every biome has unique plants, animals, and climate. This essay needs to describe what characteristics define your biome. This essay can be handwritten as long as the writing is legible. It may also be typed and shared with me in Google Drive. Your essay should be a minimum of 3 paragraphs (6+ sentences per paragraph) and discuss your chosen biome’s weather, plants, animals, and any other unique features you would like to include. Criteria for Success Your essay includes… ● A description of the biotic factors of the biome. ● A description of the abiotic factors of the biome. ● A minimum of 3 paragraphs with at least 6 sentences. ● Proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Part 2: Brochure (50 points) When people travel, they often like to travel to biomes that are different than the one they live in. Your task is to create a travel brochure that highlights the features of your chosen biome and would encourage tourists to travel there. Criteria for Success Your brochure includes… ● A tri-fold design. ● Important features of your biome. ● Travel tips to make tourists more comfortable. ● Colorful images or design. Part 3: 3-D Model (100 points) Construct a model of your biome. This can be done without spending large amounts of money. You can make your model in a shoebox, a flat piece of cardboard, or any other suitable structure. Your 3D model should not just be a drawing on a poster. It needs to include biotic and abiotic factors. All parts of your model need to be clearly labelled. Criteria for Success Your 3-D model includes… ● Biotic and abiotic factors. ● Labels for each animal, plant, and geologic feature. ● Accurate representation of the climate (i.e. no icicles in a desert). ● An organized and neat appearance that is easy to identify. *The top 2 brochures and 3-D models from each class will receive SIGNIFICANT bonus points!
