The Last Question (a review) The Last Question, by Isaac Asimov, is a short story which belongs to the genre of science fiction. The story begins when two attendants of Multivac discuss about the future of human life. Multivac is the latest technological advance which is capable of answering complex questions and changing the human limit, from the planetary to the hyperspace using the sun as source of energy, for this reason, they ask to Multivac, how can the net amount of entropy of the universe be massively decreased? However, Multivac cannot answer this question. Then with the passage of time, men from different times ask the same question, and the result is always the same, more time passes and the moment comes when there is no energy and almost before the last human consciousness disappears, they ask him again and the computer says it will gather the data, the last human consciousness disappears without knowing the answer; but finally, the computer manages to reverse the entropy and everything is regenerated. To conclude, this story is quite interesting because it is about human existence although it is difficult to interpret this story, in my opinion you have to read it several times to understand it. However, I am inclined to believe that is a short story really gripping because I have never read anything like it before. As regards the author, I like how Isaac Asimov writes as his main goal is really the enjoyment of the reader. I consider him one of the greatest writers of science-fiction. As for the characters, they are well developed by the author because the story is about science-fiction. I absolutely recommend The Last Question. If you like science-fiction stories, it will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. Don’t miss it!
