“Personal and Organizational Effectiveness is proportionate to the strength of Leadership”
 John C. Maxwell –
The scrutiny of this simple quote from the famous leadership book writer and speaker
John C. Maxwell tells what organizational effectiveness is all about ---- and it will all start with
LEADERSHIP. Leadership is not usual but strong, simple yet powerful, and comes with many
other forms.
Let’s not go far beyond walls and allow me to talk about what are examples of effective
organizational work settings within the institution that I am working with. It’s been six (6)
years and counting with three (3) Heads who lead the institution and I can say that there is a
big difference for every person has its unique way in showing and presenting what kind of
leaders they are. The question is – How do we measure organizational effectiveness? What are
the tools needed? And When we can say it’s effective?
1| One basic requirement for me to have an effective organizational work setting is
when one and another shows how to be a good "Role Model" who inspires others and one is
inspired to and imitates good work ethics. This is present within our institution. We copy what
is doable and best so that effectiveness and efficiency are attained in finishing work on time.
2| Another example which I think is one good practice to imitate is having a “Helping hands”
--- this is what I like about our organization once one needed a hand if not all, almost is willing
to give you support. We (within) will be very eager to lend a hand when one finds difficulty in
finishing a job or new to it. 3| This is one practice that almost all adopt to strengthen the
effectiveness and efficiency in the organization is through the conduct of “Pieces of training”
--- workshops, seminars, and the like were given to us teachers by our school head, master
teachers, and headteachers when there seems to be one common area which needs improvement
or clarification about certain work and skill, and this is conducted through LAC (Learning
Action Cell) sessions and INSET. 4| “Good Communication Network" --- I think this one is
true to all organizations. Once the Leader communicates well with the group and puts emphasis
on the law, protocols, standards, and what he wants to be done with clear instruction then
everything will be set in place. 5| “Updated” ---- it is indeed one good factor that all teachers
are updated on the news, memo, and the like. And we are lucky to have leaders who also update
us so we know what is due and which one to prioritize without compromising the other works
to be done. Being updated means we set the whole organization to efficiency. 6| “Never Boast
and Stay grounded" – one good thing that our leader shows and tells us. Always reminding us
to look back and never boast to anyone instead be an inspiration. 7| "Be a Good member" --one negative factor that somehow breaks the foundation is when there are members who always
oppose instead of following and try a bit of accepting the system imposed. These bad aurae
somehow if not all the time the one that makes an organization unsuccessful and not effective.
So we members of the organization must show sensitivity and follow who is above but only
for the welfare of all and if the common goal set is the best for the institution.
These are the few things (examples) that are present within the perspective of our
organization on achieving an effective work setting. We measure through how we jell with
each other, the tools will always be "all of us inside the org", and we can say it's effective once
we are all happy working with each other and we are never left behind.
