It is my great pleasure to write this letter to support my former student, Ms. Jing Zou, in applying for H1
Visa.
Ms. Jing Zou was in my xxx classes in the academic years 2017—2018, and is one of the most
outstanding students I have ever had. She has showed the strongest desire to study and exhibited an
unusually high dedication for quality work. She is very industrious, and has strong analytical skills and a
definitely positive attitude toward learning and research. Ms. Zou has already come to class prepared
and participated actively in class discussions. She has earned as in all of my classes and has
demonstrated an excellent skill for logic and thinking outside of the box.
As professor of ITU, I can proudly say that a graduate of our Engineering Management program will be a
perfect fit to work as an Operations Research Analyst. Our rigorous BA program is designed for students
and business professional with a background in computer science, statistics, and mathematics who want
to have a mastery understanding of business intelligence, business analytics and Big Date analytics.
Students in this program will develop in-depth knowledge and specialized skills in Python/R, database
(SQL), data warehousing, data mining, big data analytics, business intelligence (Tableau, PowerBI), and
optimized decision making. The program will also broaden students’ understanding of business
intelligence and analytics through the prism of its implementation and utilization in various functional
areas of business.
The program offers students opportunities to apply business intelligence and analytics to various
business functions including consulting, human resources, operations and marketing, supply chain
management, etc. Students can use their special knowledge to tackle various business intelligence issues
related to daily operation, product design, software development, resource allocation and optimization
of the business process. By doing so, our students can generate face-based actional insights from a
company’s data and thus bring special value to the company. Our Engineering Management program
helped many graduates to land business intelligence/analytics jobs in startups like Happy Money, AiFi,
and in well-known companies like Facebook and Google.
Business analytics and intelligence is a highly technology-driven and rapidly evolving field. Therefore, its
job positions are very special and unique for many companies. In order to make better, data-drive
decisions in business function, many companies desperately need qualified business intelligence
analysts. While such need is tremendous, such qualified professionals are still difficult to find. Moreover,
to better prepare our students for the industry needs of the future, we also offer research projects to
help them cultivate the reasoning skill, analytics skills and technical skills. This special training
opportunity gives them special knowledge and understanding of busines analytics and intelligence, and
thus makes our graduated even more special and unique in terms of theoretically and practically
applying the specialized knowledge of business analytics.
