Protecting Oneself from Harmful Acts
• Physical Abuse – involves physical contact
intended to cause pain or injury.
The basic forms of physical abuse are
the following:
Pushing
Biting
Pulling the hair
Kicking
Spanking Pinching Slapping
Throwing hard object at person
Verbal Abuse – form of abusive
behavior involving the use of language
that can hurt a person’s feelings.
• Referring to someone as liar, cheater,
tattletale, dull, fatty, skeleton or
skinny.
• Words or phrases that reject
someone.
Emotional Abuse – form of abusive
behavior that provokes emotions.
•Not accepting someone in a group.
•Showing anger through facial
expressions, posture, and movements.
•Being unfriendly or rude to someone.
•Avoiding someone.
