The Questions:
The questions for each chapter of the novel are listed on the following pages. You do not need to answer the
questions in complete sentences, just be sure you are being specific and detailed with your answers.
For many chapters you will also need to be on the look-out for poetic devices being used- don’t worry,
there are plenty of examples to choose from! Be sure to copy these as direct quotes and to
record the page on which it was found.
The Journal Prompts:
For about half of the chapters in “Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie” you will be asked to record a journal entry
discussing one of the topics from the corresponding chapter.Many of these topics will help you develop
and recognize the themes within the novel. It is important that you complete each of these when class
time is given in order to earn full credit.This means meeting the length requirement for each journal entry and
answering all parts of the prompts. When it says “explain” or “describe” I want to see specific,detailed,
and fully thought out responses I will not be giving points for entries that are incomplete or rushed;
if incomplete it will earn a zero!
Important things to keep in mind when writing the journals:





All entries must be written in paragraph form!
This means complete sentences must be used
Try to avoid making significant grammar/spelling mistakes
You need to write an appropriate size for the given lines
If I can’t read your writing no points will be earned…please write neatly!
