As a Program Manager I have been assigned by the Provincial Government to
reduce the prevalence of Fertility Rate in a specific population like Dadu
I as a Program Manager will use following Five (5) Health Promotion Approaches
to reduce Fertility rate in Dadu:
MEDICAL AND PREVENTIVE APPROACHES:
Following approaches will be utilized to reduce the Fertility Rate:
⮚ Establishing Family Planning Centers at every Health Facility and at every
Health House
⮚ Separate Family Planning Center be established to entertain only Family
Planning Services
⮚ Adequate supply to everyone of condoms (both male and female
condoms), contraceptive oral pills (COPs), implants and intrauterine
contraceptive devices should be at place
⮚ Easy availability and free of cost approach of everyone to condoms (both
male and female condoms), contraceptive pills, implants and intrauterine
contraceptive devices (IUCDs)
⮚ Vasectomy of males and tubal ligation of females is easily available and free
of cost when they have completed their family and when they wish so.
BEHAVIORIAL APPROCH:
Following approaches will be utilized to reduce the Fertility Rate:
⮚ Early marriages are be avoided and late marriages be encouraged
⮚ Mind- set of having large families be changed
⮚ Women are be allowed to complete their education before getting married
EDUCATIONAL APPRPACH:
Following approaches will be utilized to reduce the Fertility Rate:
⮚ Using Print Media: People will provided with booklets and leaflets
describing advantages of Family Planning and methods of Family Planning
⮚ Using Electronic Media: People will be educated through TV Commercials/
Radio Announcements
⮚ Social Media like Facebook, WhatsApp and Tiktok will be used to propagate
the message.
⮚ Seminars/ Lectures will be arranged especially at Girls schools, colleges and
universities to educate people particularly Girls regarding Family Planning
⮚ SMS through Government Portal will be sent to people to promote family
planning
EMPOWERMENT APPROACH:
Following approaches will be utilized to reduce the Fertility Rate:
⮚ Mother will be empowered to determine her family size through knowing
her due rights in the society and as well father be made aware of
advantages of Small Family
⮚ Women must know that their health is a Top Priority
⮚ Women empowerment agencies/ organizations will be coordinated to
empower women regarding decision making in Family Size
SOCIAL CHANGE APPROACH:
Following approaches will be utilized to reduce the Fertility Rate:
⮚ Involve religious scholars so that they promote the message of Family
Planning/ Small Family because Quran promotes child spacing
⮚ People with small families be given incentives
⮚ Poor families who wish to keep large families to increase their income be
given financial support
⮚ Policies are made regarding Family Planning
⮚ Educate women so that they should not force their daughters and daughter
in laws for early marriages and early pregnancies
