The World Bank has divided all the countries in groups of 4 (or 5) and is going to provide financial support to the country (or countries) your group decides on. The World Bank has offered up 3 Tokens of Aid for the most deserving Country(s). One token is equivalent to addressing one individual need. Task: Part A: Research 1. Gather Data (Population pyramid, Quality of Life, Strengths/Weaknesses) 2. Research Country: look into history, economy, etc… 3. Decide on your 3 needs and how you would address them if given the funds Part B: Write your pitch Write 4 paragraphs outlining how you would use the financial assistance to improve your country. These should be based on your interpretation of your graphs and the additional research done on your country. Paragraph 1: Intro and DTM Stage Briefly introduce your country and explain its current situation and overall strengths and weaknesses. Be sure to explain what stage of development your country is in. Paragraphs 2-4: What you will do with the WB Aid Outline in detail your 3 main needs and how you plan to use the financial support to address these needs. Part C: Debate In your groups, you will each have 5 minutes to introduce your country and explain why you think your country should receive the Aid from the World Bank. After this, there will be time for a free flowing discussion and follow-up questions. You will then have time to continue the discussion with the goal of coming to an agreement on how to distribute the 3 tokens of aid. Remember, each token addresses one single need. All 3 tokens could go to one country, or be divided.
