UCAL-UNIVERSAL CALIBRATION
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Introduction Calibration can be defined as a set of operations
performed under specified conditions to establish the relationship
between values indicated by a measuring instrument or system and
the corresponding known true values of a quantity to be measured.
The calibration procedure compares the instrument with reference
standards according to a specific algorithm. The most basic
requirement of a calibration is proof of traceability. Traceability is
defined as an unbroken chain of comparisons, all having stated
uncertainties, between the measurement and some national or
internationally accepted standard.
library for instruments, report generation and system security. The
communication module automates the calibration process for the
instrument under calibration as per the user defined test
procedures.
Purpose Instrument calibration is intended to eliminate or reduce
bias in an instrument's readings over a range for all continuous
values. Bias is the difference between the values assigned to the
standard by the client laboratory and the laboratory maintaining the
reference standards. Values, in this sense, are understood to be
the long-term averages that would be achieved in both laboratories.
For this purpose, reference standards with known values for
selected points covering the range of interest are measured with the
instrument in question. Then a functional relationship is established
between the values of the standards and the corresponding Features

Reports
UCAL provides generation of Calibration data and certificate
reports. The calibration data report is a document that records
actual measurement results and all other relevant information to a
successful instrument calibration. Calibration Certificates clearly
shows the information regarding the standards used and their
traceability.
