Q.1:
The elements of the mission statement are well defined in the text. To begin with, LOCOG’s
business credo is stated in the 1st paragraph of page 2: “to use the power of the Games to
inspire change”. This page is where the vision of the organisation is described, as well,:
including “culture, education, the environment, and programmes with wider benefits” into the
event, providing accessibility to a broader range of people, inclusivity, and “upholding the
Olympic values of friendship, excellence, respect, inspiration, determination, courage, and
equality”(which have previously been mentioned in the very first paragraph of the text). Some
additional values of LOCOG’s are “managing the health and safety” of the people involved in
the organisation and being “inspirational, open, and respectful”. The guiding principles of the
organisation are to “maximise the economic, social, health, and environmental benefits of the
Games for the UK, particularly through regeneration and sustainable development in East
London”, “creating inspirational games” in order to “provide a range of opportunities”, and to
“encourage longer term participation in sport and cultural activities across the UK”.
